Usually the best place to meet a videographer is in their studio or home based studio. No matter how your videographer’s work looks on their website, you really want to see it at its best. Most videographers have a large HDTV, a good sound system, and Blu-ray players and you can really see how good the video is. Laptops and ipads work well for photographers but not as well for videographers.
You want to be sure your personality meshes well with your videographer. You will be spending a lot of time with both your photographer and videographer on your wedding day so be sure to choose ones that you feel relaxed and comfortable around.
When you meet with your videographer, tell them about your day and what makes it special so they can customize their coverage to what is important to you. Some will be less willing to do this than others. Eliminate from your choices anyone who seems to want to make a “formula” or “cookie cutter” video. You want a custom video of your day, not just the same video they do every week, just staring you. You can spot this by looking at their work. Do all the videos start looking alike? If so, run. Find someone that cares enough to produce a creative, original video that is all about you and your day.
When you find that videographer, the creative, flexible one that you get along with well, your hunt is over!
